Three Solo Guitarists to Perform at Crosswicks Cosmic Coffeehouse
Crosswicks, NJ (April 18, 2005) – The Crosswicks Community House has announced that three unique solo guitarists will perform at the Cosmic Coffeehouse, Main Street in Crosswicks, NJ on Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:00 p.m.)
Stockton, NJ Guitarist Robert Burger of the band The Gak Omek will perform his exciting brand of instrumental progressive rock music. Burger’s solo project "The Gak Omek" has recently released a second album, The Return of the All-Powerful Light Beings with Fossil Records, a follow up to the first CD, Alien Eye. The Return of the All-Powerful Light Beings with Fossil Records was voted one of the Top 20 Progressive Rock Albums of 2004 by Progressive Soundscapes Radio, Sea of Tranquility, Nucleus, and Radio Gnome. Alien Eye has been hailed as outstanding, amazing, first-rate, and excellent progressive space rock by reviewers at Expose Magazine, Aural Innovations, ProGGnosis, and Progression Magazine. Visit http://www.thegakomek/ for more information.
Mike Hunter of Trenton, NJ plays the 12 string Warr touch guitar and 6 string electric with South Jersey based Irish traditional/Celtic rock group The Stone Soup Band, as well as his solo ambient drone music under the "Ombient" moniker. His music has been described as ambient like the random symmetry of wind chimes, the sound of vehicles moving on some far distant highway, and the warm hum of high tension power lines. Visit http://www.ombient.com/ for more information.
In a rare solo performance guitarist Dennis Young of Metuchen, NJ will play a mix of guitar, effects and vocals. He is best known professionally as the marimba/percussionist for the trend-setting early 80’s NYC band “Liquid Liquid.” He has a new CD release "Old Dog, New Tricks", along with remix records on Rushhour & Relish records. For the Cosmic Coffeehouse, the Crosswicks Community House is transformed into an intimate venue to showcase these artists and their otherworldly musical visions. Musical events at the Cosmic Coffeehouse feature local under-exposed talent.
The Cosmic Coffeehouse is located in the Crosswicks Community House, Main Street in Crosswicks, NJ. Admission is $5 at the door to benefit the Crosswicks Community Association. No children under 15 will be admitted.
